The TEE College is accepted and valued as a vital part of the church's life and ministry, providing sound academic and spiritual equipment for the ministry, particularly within Southern Africa.
The TEE programme is designed to meet the needs of the churches for the theological training of the following persons :
The TEE College provides theological education for as wide a range of educational levels as possible, offering courses at four different programme levels :
The TEE College Award in Theology programme is designed to :
prepare you to contribute towards the ministry of your church
provide you with the knowledge, skills and values you will need to do theology in your context
help you think more deeply about Scripture and the Church in a variety of contexts
enable you to put into practice - in the church and the community - what you are learning
help you to grow spiritually as you learn to use what you are studying in your daily life and ministry
give you credits, on completion of the whole Award programme, towards the Certificate in Theology
We recommend that :
you study a maximum of 2 courses (subjects) at a time if you are a part-time student and no more than 3 if you study full time
you set aside at least 2 to 3 hours study time per week per course (subject)
you give yourself more study time before assignments are due, as you may have to do practical work away from your desk
you attend a tutorial group
Note : This qualification does not automatically lead to any kind of ministry within your church. Ask your church leaders for advise about this yourself.
The TEE College Award in Theology is made up of 12 credits. All of the courses (subjects) offered are worth TWO credits.

TEE College has a policy of revising and rewriting the Award courses (subjects) to make them more contextual and relevant to different ministries in the Church. Most of the courses are available in English, isiZulu, isiXhosa and seSotho.

South African Church History. This course covers the history of the Church in South Africa from its beginnings. It covers the missions that worked in South Africa and Lesotho and the origins of the African Independent Churches. |

Pastoral Studies. This course is designed to help all those who take part in the pastoral ministry of their congregation. It gives a brief introduction to healing and counselling, communication and authority, the importance of small groups, children in the Church and the Church in the community. |

The TEE Certificate is made up of 11 courses (subjects) and credits and when completed, should cover the whole range of theology, doctrine, church history, pastoral studies and spirituality, as well as biblical studies. This is particularly important for those students who are studying for a recognised ministry within the church.
The TEE College Certificate of Competence in Theology programme is designed to :

These are full year courses. Registrations open on the 1st October and close on the 15th February.

| 201 | Introduction the the Old Testament. An introduction to the Old Testament which covers the history and background of the Bible and a basic survey of the books of the Old Testament. It should be taken before any other courses on single Old Testament books. |
| 212 | Amos. A general introduction to the prophets and a study of Amos in his context and includes social justice issues. |
| 213 | Genesis. An introduction to the context and significance of the book of Genesis. |
| 214 | Exodus. An introduction to the context and significance of the book of Exodus. |
| 215 | Psalms. A study of each Psalm which looks at the theme and offers notes on individual verses and on the use of the Psalm. |
| 221 | Introduction to the New Testament. An introduction to Palestine in the time of Jesus, to biblical criticism and to the New Testament books. |
| 232 | 1 Corinthians. This covers 1 Corinthians section by section offering an outline, notes an interpretation of each. |
| 234 | Romans. This covers Romans section by section offering an outline, notes and interpretation of each. |
| 235 | Philippians. Covers Philippians section by section offering an outline, notes and interpretation of each |
| 241 | Christian Doctrine 1. An introduction to what Christians believe about God, themselves and the world in which they live. |
| 242 | Christian Doctrine 2. Builds on what you learned in Christian Doctrine 1 and includes study of the doctrine of the Church, Christian Ministry, and the end things. It also introduces you to African theology. |
| 251 | Early Church History. An introduction to the story of Christianity from the time of the New Testament to the year 500. It will help you to understand how the early Christians worshipped and what they believed. |
| 253 | South African Church History. An introduction to the story of Christianity in Southern Africa from 1652 to the present day. It covers the major missionary denominations and the African Independent Churches. |
| 266 | Ethics. Ethics is the study of right and wrong and this course will help you to make moral decisions based on Christian principles and basic human justice. You must choose two areas of special study from Sexual, Economic and Eco (Environmental) Ethics. This choice of two must be clearly shown on your registration form. |
| 271 | Call to Ministry. A practical course which will help Christian leaders to think about how they apply their gifts to different kinds of ministry in the church and in the community. |
| 272 | Preaching. Looks at sermon preparation, writing and delivery of sermons which are relevant to the real life situations of he congregation. |
| 274 | Introduction to Pastoral Counselling. An introduction to the listening skills required to help those in need. Please note that this course does not qualify you to be a professional counsellor. |
| 276 | Spirituality : Walking Closer with Jesus. This will help you grow in your own experience of prayer by introducing you to a variety of ways of praying. You will also study the Holy Spirit, grace and the sacraments. |
| 277 | Christian Education. This will equip you to offer Christian Education in a variety of contexts based on the needs of the audience and sound educational principals. |
| 278 | The Church's Response to AIDS. This covers the causes and effects of AIDS and explores some of the theological questions around the issue. It is a practical course which will enable you to be involved in AIDS ministry. |
| 281 | Guide to Religions. This begins with a discussion on what traditional religion is and then introduces you to four Traditional Religions, five national religions and three international religions - Buddhism, Islam and Christianity |
To complete the TEE Certificate in Theology, 11 Credits (courses/subjects) are required, of which four are compulsory :

The syllabus and accreditation for the
Award and Certificate are the responsibility of the TEE College itself.
Credits for courses done with the Roman Catholic Lumko Institute or with
the Anglican Lay Minister/Worship Leader's Course can be considered for
Award and Certificate.
