Some students still find themselves quite isolated.
Others find themselves facing difficulties of various kinds : educational,
personal, spiritual, family. We would like to find ways of giving
students the kind of support they would receive in a residential College
at these difficult times. Please contact the Student Support Services
Department. As a College we care about our students - we are here
to listen and to help if we possibly can.
Please get in touch with your Marker and/or Regional Co-ordinator if you want help with :
1. Your Studies
TUTOR DEVELOPMENT
Tutors play a vital role in bringing students together, in helping them get to grips with their courses and in helping them to learn from one another. Student Support Services exist to :
1. Recruit suitable tutors and encourage the formation and development of tutorial groups
2. Equip tutors to be better able to help the students
3. Provide ongoing in-service training
LIAISON WITH THE REGIONAL CENTRES
Regional Centres are an important extension of the College ensuring that students are supported and are in touch with one another. Student Support Services aim to :
1. Set up more Regional Centres
2. Ensure that Regional Co-Ordinators receive all tutorial correspondence relating to their students
3. Organise Regional visits in co-operation with Regional Co-Ordinators
4. Strengthen communication and networking between College and Regions
OUTCOMES BASED EDUCATION
The courses offered by TEE College need to be in line with the Government's guidelines for Outcomes Based Education.
Student Support Services aims to :
Work with Students, Markers, Tutors, Regional
and Subject Co-Ordinators, to ensure that the courses offered conform at
every stage with the principals of OBE. This is a long term strategy
which seeks to ensure that the courses are written, revised and marked
with the in mind, so that in addition to the aquisition of head
knowledge, students are equipped with the attitudes, values and skills
needed to apply that knowledge in the everyday situations in which they
live and minister. The focus changes from the teacher to the
and from the knowledge of content to skill in using and applying that knowledge.
