TO ALL METHODIST LOCAL PREACHERS

Dear Friends,

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus our Lord!

This letter is to give you some advice and information about how best to register for your studies for 2010.

  1. Both Senior and Junior will do the SAME four courses.  (costs for Methodist Local Preachers for 2010 shown in brackets):

    REPEAT FULL COURSE R 410

Repeat Fee One Component (assignment or exam) R 245

  2. If you are doing the Award courses, then you’ll need to complete FOUR courses

(payment options now available.  Please contact the College for details):

Text Box: You MUST repeat failed assignments in the very next year, as the marks for your passed assignments can only be carried forward for ONE year
Repeat One Assignment Only R 100

Repeat Two Assignments Only R 160

Note that we are offering the Award courses only in Xhosa, Zulu and Sotho and English

  • Please make really sure that you send your registration form AND Bank deposit slip together to us. Best is to register early, and POST to us. Please don’t wait till the last day and try to fax us.

Here’s some information about decisions made by the Methodist EMMU to improve your Local Preachers training process:

  1. Local and Circuit TUTORING. Please ask your Circuit Superintendent and Circuit Supervisor of Studies to organise tutoring for you in your Circuit! It really is an important part of the Circuit’s responsibility to help you with your training to be Preachers.
  2. When you get your Results from TEEC, remember that’s it YOUR responsibility to show them to your Superintendent Minister (best is to give him/her a copy). When you’ve completed the required five courses and your Trial Services, the Circuit will inform the EMMU and apply for a Local Preacher’s Certificate for you.
  3. If you want to candidate for the ordained ministry, then the church requires you to do three higher level courses at Diploma or Degree level, NOT the Certificate Level. Please contact the College for details.
  4. If you need to REPEAT a course, remember that - in certain circumstances - you may be able to carry some marks over for one year (only).  Please contact the Registrar for further information.
  5. When you have completed your four courses, please be encouraged to continue your studies and register for more courses. We especially recommend courses like 278: The Church’s Response to AIDS, and 276 Spirituality – Walking Closer with Jesus. See your Yearbook for more examples – or please contact us. Please note that these will be at TEEC’s standard prices, not the big discount we offer to Methodist Preachers for the four basic Certificate courses.
  6. Please be sure to send your Assignments to your Marker (not to TEE College or anybody else). Make completely sure you put your Name and Student Number on the Assignment Cover Sheet. If you have problems which your Circuit Supervisor can’t help you with, please phone your Marker, and then phone the TEEC if necessary. And if you haven’t received your marked Assignment back within 6 weeks maximum after the due date (assuming you sent it in on time), then please phone your Marker. If you still get no action, phone the TEEC Registrar. All our Markers sign a formal contract with us, and are paid per marked assignment. So we expect excellence and prompt delivery!
  7. To make sure you get your Course Material, please check your post box regularly, from 2 weeks after you registered. If your Minister’s address was given to us on your Registration form, then please make sure that that post box is regularly checked. Every item we send out has a Tracking number!

We wish you well in your studies. May God bless you and your family in all you do.

Please be free to contact the TEE College if you have any queries.
